Police Recruitment offering a Detective Pathway
Detective Pathways into the police are advertised regularly these days as an option within police recruitment. You’ll see adverts for DCEP (Detective Constable Entry Programme) or GDP (Graduate Detective Pathway) amongst others. There’s mixed feelings over this pathway, it has pro’s and con’s.
Place Restrictions
There may only be a certain number of places. You may have to achieve a higher score at Online Assessment Centre (OAC) to progress to Interview and achieve a higher score at Interview to get a place on the intake.
You may have to do Extra Tests
If you decide it’s for you and are pursuing this route, forces can add their own tests onto the usual National Sift, OAC and Final Interview. Some of you will have to do a prioritisation exercise, a briefing, a written test or other assessment they think is relevant.
